How to Craft a Workbench in Deep Dish Dungeon

1. Get your first piece of Leather

1. Progress from the starting camp to the large hall and set the sleeping bag as your respawn point.
2. Follow the sewer route and search its small chests, especially the one near a Bone Club.
3. Take the Leather when you find it. The release Leather route lists 2 pieces alongside the Bone Club in that chest.
4. Keep 1 Leather for the Workbench instead of spending your full supply on storage equipment.
5. If the chest is different in your run, search other sewer loot and deeper dungeon rooms for a Leather pickup.

You need this first pickup for two reasons: it is an ingredient for the Workbench, and picking up Leather unlocks the recipe for making more Leather later.

2. Gather Wood Planks and Iron Rods

1. Collect 1 Log from the early dungeon.
2. Open hand Crafting and make 3 Wood Planks from the Log.
3. Collect 2 Iron Rods from loose supplies or containers in the dungeon.
4. Check your inventory: you need 3 Wood Planks, 2 Iron Rods and 1 Leather before proceeding.

3. Build and place your Workbench

1. Open the regular Crafting menu. Do not look for the Workbench under food preparation.
2. Find the Workbench recipe in the list of buildable stations.
3. Craft it with 3 Wood Planks + 2 Iron Rods + 1 Leather.
4. Place your Workbench somewhere convenient, such as the large hall where you can return between trips.
5. Interact with the finished Workbench to open its own recipe list.

Plan to craft your own Workbench from these materials before processing Rat hides into more Leather.

4. Craft useful items at the Workbench

To make more Leather, do this:

1. Catch two Rats in the dungeon.
2. In hand Crafting, process each Rat into Raw Meat and collect the extra Animal Hide.
3. Bring 2 Animal Hide to the Workbench.
4. Choose Leather to make 1 piece.

5. If the recipe isn't showing up

1. Make sure you are using the right station. Workbench recipes are different from hand Crafting and Cooking Table recipes.
2. For Leather, pick up an actual piece of Leather first; carrying Animal Hide alone is not enough.
3. For a replacement Hammer, first collect the Hammer from the sewer pipe route.
4. In co-op, give the missing unlock item to the player who cannot see the recipe. Unlocks can be different for each player.
5. If you're out of Leather and never built a Workbench, continue exploring for a new Leather pickup. You cannot make Leather from hides without using a Workbench.
